Getting started

Welcome to Winter Sessions at VCU!

Make the most of your winter break. With a wide range of courses to choose from, you're sure to find one that fits your goals!

Winter Sessions courses are all three-credits and run during the university's winter break.

Intersession courses run from Dec. 28, 2026-Jan. 9, 2027.

J-Term courses run from Dec. 28, 2026-Jan. 15, 2027.

Who can attend?

Winter Sessions are open to current VCU students and students visiting from other institutions.

If you are attending VCU for a Winter Sessions course only, you will register as a nondegree-seeking student. Nondegree-seeking students must meet VCU’s eligibility requirements. Students who are currently seeking a baccalaureate degree at another college or university must be in good standing at their home institution and must have a letter from their home institution approving the courses they will transfer. Visit the Registration page to learn more.

Non-U.S. citizens and non-U.S. residents can find information about academic and financial requirements, admission, passports and visas, and registration for international students on the Office of Admissions website. For more information regarding international admissions, contact (804) 828-6016 or email at vcuia@vcu.edu.
