Welcome to Winter Session
VCU Winter Sessions are an excellent opportunity for student to earn credit hours over winter break to catch up, stay on track, or get ahead.
This year there will be two sessions available:
- Intersession: 2 weeks of classes, meeting Monday–Saturdays
- January Term: 3 weeks of classes, meeting Monday–Saturdays
Both sessions’ classes start December 28.
Classes will not meet: January 1, January 3, and January 10 (January Term)
Important Dates
Fall 2026
- Oct. 12: Intersession courses will be posted with the spring 2027 schedule
- Online registration follows the spring 2027 advance registration dates (starting on Oct. 27)
- Dec. 28: Intersession classes begin and will run for two weeks, meeting Monday-Saturday
- Dec. 28: J-Term classes begin and will run for three weeks, meeting Monday-Saturday
- Dec. 28: Add/drop ends for Intersession and J-Term classes
Spring 2027
- Jan. 4: Last day to withdraw from Intersession and J-Term classes
- Jan. 9: Intersession ends
- Jan. 15: J-Term ends

Take a class from either Winter Session or J-Term and earn an additional three credits toward your degree.
Not a VCU student?
Take a course at VCU — no admission process necessary for most courses.
