VCU libraries

The James Branch Cabell Library and Health Sciences Library will be physically open during Winter session beginning Monday, Jan. 5. Both libraries provide computers and study rooms throughout the building for student collaborative use and private study. Staff will be available to answer questions remotely via chat, text (804-435-5420), phone (804-828-1111), or email (library@vcu.edu) starting Jan. 5. VCU IT Support Center

The VCU IT Support Center will not be open during Intersession. The IT Support Center provides telephone support 24/7 at (804) 828-2227 throughout Winter Sessions. Visit http://go.vcu.edu/itsc for more details.

Dining services

VCU Dining locations will be closed during Winter Sessions. For information on local coffee and food options, visit the Coffee Options for Winter Sessions doc.

VCU bookstore

Barnes & Noble @ VCU will be open during Winter Sessions. Students are encouraged to pre-order their books for pickup in the bookstore.

Inclement weather

In the event of extreme weather conditions during Intersession, we ask that you visit the VCU Alert website at http://alert.vcu.edu/ for closing information. If that website is unavailable, call VCU Open at VCU-OPEN (828-6736). If you have not already done so, please sign up to receive VCU Alerts by following the instructions at https://alert.vcu.edu/signup/index.php.

Media Support Services (e.g., Zoom)

Faculty are encouraged to test Zoom before December 19.  During this time, on-site support staff can help with fielding any questions Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at (804) 828-1098.  From December 22 through January 4, a limited number of staff will monitor zoom requests for assistance with Zoom through the RamsCentral ticketing system. Office support will resume on January 5 from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Parking and transportation

During Winter Sessions, daily and hourly parking is available at the West Broad Street Deck, West Cary Street Deck and West Main Street Deck, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Credit and debit cards, RamBucks and cash are accepted at these locations. Students, faculty and staff may purchase parking at a discounted rate of $33 for Winter Sessions and will become available toward the end of the fall semester.

Housing

Students on a 12-month housing contract can stay on campus during Intersession. Nine-month housing closes for winter break. For more information, contact Residential Life and Housing.
